The nexus between the builder mafia and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is solely responsible for the collapse of a four storey building in North Delhi, which has claimed atleast 10 innocent lives.
It is unbelievable and extremely shocking that the North Delhi Municipal Corporation had shut its eyes to the digging for construction purposes going on a site adjacent to this 50 year-old building in Inderlok near Sarai Rohilla, which ultimately led to the collapse of this dilapidated structure.
The builder mafia is spreading its influence across all parts of the national capital and all the three corporations which form a part of the MCD appear to be actively conniving by allowing their illegal activities to go unchecked.
Nothing can be more shameful that the civic body which controls majority of the country’s national capital - the MCD, is today synonymous with corruption and treats the people living here with disdain and considers them to be helpless and at its mercy. Read More
The death of Om Prakash Omi, a 43-year old contractual sanitation worker, while cleaning a drain in Sector-20 of Rohini in Outer Delhi is tragic and painful. Another worker, 34-year-old Sagar, had sustained serious injuries. It is suspected that both workers were exposed to poisonous gases inside the drain. This is not the first incident of this nature. The loss of atleast nine innocent lives and largescale destruction caused by the sudden thunderstorm on Friday raises serious questions about the preparedness of the civic agencies in the national capital in dealing with such emergency situations created by natural disasters of any nature.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) condoles these untimely and sudden deaths and demands adequate steps to compensate their families who have lost their beloved ones for no fault of theirs. The administration must also ensure relief and rehabilitation of the affected families. Read More
